Description
This Sensational Lemon Dump Cake Recipe is the definition of Magic in the kitchen. With zero mixing required, you just dump the ingredients into a pan and bake a warm, gooey lemon filling topped with a buttery, cake-like crust. It’s the simplest easy dessert guaranteed to leave everyone Delighted.
Ingredients
1 can (21 oz) Lemon Pie Filling (or two 15 oz cans for extra filling)
1 box (15.25 oz) Yellow or White Cake Mix
1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, sliced thin
Optional: Zest of 1 lemon (for extra brightness)
Instructions
Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Dump Filling: Spread the entire can of lemon pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. If desired, sprinkle the lemon zest over the filling.
Dump Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top of the lemon filling. Do not mix the layers.
Add Butter: Slice the two sticks of cold butter into thin squares or rounds. Arrange the butter slices evenly across the surface of the dry cake mix, covering as much surface area as possible.
Bake: Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
Serve: Let cool for 15 minutes before serving warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Why Cold Butter? Using cold, sliced butter ensures that it melts slowly, saturating the dry cake mix for a crunchy, streusel-like topping. Do not use melted butter, as it creates a denser, less pleasant crust.
The Go-To Dessert: This is one of the quickest easy desserts you can make! It’s perfect for parties, potlucks, or simple weeknight dinners when you need a treat.
